Tim Chang
Principal, Gabriel Venture Partners
Gabriel Venture Partners® is a hands-on, early-stage
venture capital firm with offices in Silicon Valley and the Mid-Atlantic,
managing over $260 Million.
Tim Chang brings a strong combination of technology,
marketing, and international business experience to Gabriel
Venture Partners. He is currently a Principal in Gabriel's
Silicon Valley office, and leads Gabriel's wireless investment
team.
Prior to joining Gabriel, Mr. Chang successfully launched enterprise
products in Japan as a Product Marketing Manager for Gateway,
and quickly grew Gateway Japan's enterprise
product line into a full offering of network desktops, workstations,
servers and configurable turnkey solutions. Mr. Chang was also
on the founding team of CTR Ventures, a Tokyo-based
Venture Accelerator that worked closely with wireless applications
and cross-Pacific IT startup companies. He began his career
as an advanced chassis systems engineer for General
Motors, and has worked in three languages across Japan,
China and Korea. Mr. Chang led Gabriel's investments in Iridigm
(acquired by Qualcomm) and Jaalaa, and served
as a board director at both companies. In addition, he works
closely with the boards of IPWireless, NextG
Networks, and Encentuate. He was previously
involved with the boards of Placeware (acquired
by Microsoft) and Arula Systems (acquired by
Raritan).
Mr. Chang graduated from the Stanford Graduate School
of Business, where he was an Arjay Miller Scholar,
and also holds MSEE and BSEE degrees in electrical engineering
from the University of Michigan. He is also
an accomplished musician and actor, and continues to perform
around the San Francisco Bay Area.
